For meat lovers there’s a very hot ticket on its way next month. Bea Vo, owner of Soho’s Stax Diner and Boondocks in Old Street – both huge hits with critics and punters alike – will be opening a third venture on Kentish Town Road at the end of February.

The evocatively-named restaurant is to specialise in – you guessed it – flame-grilled burgers and fried wings; although the emphasis is on takeaway, there’ll be fifteen seats for more sedate customers to eat in.

What to expect? Well, four styles of deep-fried wing buckets for a start, all with varying fiery flavours. Burger monsters will be able to devour a thinner style of patty here (compared to Stax and Boondocks) which is flame-grilled over charcoal, and served with unique ‘potato buns’.

And new for Camden will be a Nashville hot chicken sandwich, served with a cayenne butter sauce. Hungry? Follow @thefamousflames for more info. Opens 20th Feb, 11 Kentish Town Road NW1

A new base for Icco

Now let’s walk ten minutes’ further south for some seriously budget pizza. It’s none other than the second outlet of Icco, the cheap and cheery gaff on Goodge Street which has occupied the same corner spot for a no-mean-feat 18 years.

For the uninitiated, the USP for the new Mornington Crescent store (and further branches set to spread across the capital) is simply: “great pizza, freshly prepared, for ridiculously low prices.” Fair enough.

The dough is made on site every morning and an open kitchen means customers can see exactly what’s going on while they wait. A 12″ pizza starts at a well-priced £3.95 for a takeout, with average prices being a still-reasonable £5.50-7 to eat in. Open daily till 1130, and 3am weekends.
